BY DR. PADDY LADD

With Dr. Paddy Ladd's support and as part of our educational outreach to the American community, we are working to create translations of Dr. Ladd's book from written English to American Sign Language, the natural language of Deaf Americans.  The translation of Dr. Paddy Ladd’s 2003 book “Understanding Deaf Culture: in search of Deafhood” began in 2011, and, so far, up to halfway of Chapter Three has been completed by 2016 (this extensive project was paused and will be continued, dependent on funding and resources).   Many heartfelt thanks go out to many Deaf individuals who volunteered their time in filming and editing translations between 2011 to 2016, which had been such an enriching experience for all involved.  To see translations, please click on each section below.
